Tilverton

In 16097, the Kingdom of Mercadia, looking to expand its territory across the strait and reclaim its former southern continental holdings, founded Tilverton. This settlement began as a humble fishing village, nestled by the coast and intended to serve as a potential outpost for the kingdom's expansion plans. The original settlers were humans who braved the strait, seeking opportunities and a life of peaceful fishing and trade. Unfortunately, Tilverton was not blessed with a prime location. The settlement sat atop a foul bog that made conditions harsh for its residents and impeded efforts to cultivate a prosperous community. The damp, stinking marshland not only made living conditions difficult but also impeded trade and development, discouraging newcomers. Nonetheless, the settlers of Tilverton showed resilience. They managed to extract some value from their surrounding environment, establishing a small mining operation. The mine did not yield great riches, but it provided a crucial lifeline for the struggling settlement. Despite this, Tilverton's growth was stunted. It never blossomed into the thriving outpost that Mercadia had hoped for.

As the years wore on, the kingdom's interest in its far-flung outpost dwindled. Support from Mercadia became sporadic, and finally, ceased entirely. The abandonment of Tilverton by the Kingdom of Mercadia marked the beginning of its descent into lawlessness. Gradually, the settlement turned over to seedier elements. It became a hotbed for organized crime, attracting the destitute and the outcasts. The arrival of the Shadowclan Orcs, led by the Firelord Igneos, in the year 16668, brought a wave of refugees to Tilverton. The beleaguered settlement saw a sudden influx of displaced people seeking refuge from the Orcs' onslaught. This wave of migration significantly increased the settlement's population, but it also further strained its already limited resources. The following years saw the rise of The Consortium, a criminal syndicate that quickly filled the power vacuum left by the Kingdom of Mercadia. The Consortium exploited Tilverton, using the settlement as a hub for its illicit activities. In this era, Tilverton's original purpose as a fishing village and outpost was forgotten. It became a shadowy haven for criminals, a far cry from the vision the Kingdom of Mercadia had once held for it.

Today, Tilverton continues to bear the scars of its challenging history. A testament to the resilience of its people, it clings to existence, an outpost not of empire, but of survival and endurance.
