The Shadowclan orcs were a force of darkness that brought chaos and destruction upon the land, their origins rooted in the depths of Shadowclan Mountain. The mountain, located northwest of the ruins of Ameresh, had seen years of bloodshed and warfare; it was a grim testament to the orcs' warlike nature and their unyielding resolve.
In the year 16668, the Shadowclan unleashed a campaign of annihilation, directed by their ruthless Firelord, Igneos. They obliterated the once thriving village of Olverton, which sat peacefully on the Northern bank of the Olverton Beck. No building was spared, no stone left unturned. To this day, the village remains a somber reminder of the Shadowclan's reign of terror. The once majestic mountain town of Ameresh suffered a similar fate. What was once a vibrant city nestled amongst the peaks, filled with laughter and life, was laid waste. The echoes of the proud townsfolk now only whisper through the skeletal remains of the buildings that survived the onslaught.The Shadowclan's march of devastation did not stop there; they set their sights on Arandor. But they were met by a united front of Elves, Dwarves, and Humans who had gathered at the now ruined fortress of Mohrladen Hold. Despite their differences, these races found common ground in their mutual enemy, uniting to repel the Shadowclan from their lands.As the Shadowclan threatened from the north, the Firelord Igneos found his southern flank besieged by the Orc tribes of Burz'kal. Guided by a vision from the All-Goth, Gruumsh, these tribes had a divine mandate, which remains even today, to bring about the Shadowclan's destruction. Thus, in a rare moment of unity, the four races stood together against a common foe, repelling the Shadowclan back to their mountain stronghold.
Today, the threat of the Shadowclan still looms from Shadowclan Mountain. The Firelord Igneos, hidden within the Burning Depths, continues to rally his forces, hungry for the land beyond their rocky confines. The alliance that once fought back the Shadowclan has since splintered, and skirmishes against the orcs have become a common occurrence. With the lack of a unified force against the Shadowclan, the responsibility of stewarding the mountain and repelling orcish incursions has largely fallen to the Elves. They remain vigilant, standing as the last line of defense against the Shadowclan's possible resurgence. Though Karagard is closer in proximity, even at the peak of his power Igneos was not willing to risk his horde against their tunnels and stonework attempting to sack their fabled fortress capitol.
The tale of the Shadowclan Orcs serves as a reminder of the brutalities of war and the indomitable spirit of unity. Despite the horrors of the past, the beacon of hope endures in the form of shared resistance and the persistent efforts of those who strive to contain the mountain's terrors.
