The Cult of Azamul

First emerging in 16888, Azamul's cult arose from the dark whispers and malevolent energies that had long festered in the shadows of the world. Unlike any other threat faced by the Kingdom of Mercadia, this cult was not driven by simple greed or the desire for conquest. Instead, it was fueled by a deep, twisted devotion to Azamul, a being of immense and terrifying power. The cultists believed that through blood, suffering, and dark rituals, they could summon Azamul to the mortal plane, bringing about another Age of Chaos and domination under His rule.

The cult’s origins are shrouded in mystery, with its members operating in secretive cells scattered across the desolate regions of the kingdom. They were first noticed in the years following the rise of the Northern Resistance, when a series of unexplained disappearances and gruesome murders plagued the land. What began as isolated incidents soon spiraled into widespread terror, as the cult's influence grew, and their dark rites became more brazen. The cultists, led by powerful figures like Mortimer, harnessed forbidden magic and alchemy, performing rituals that twisted the natural order and brought forth horrific creatures to do their bidding.

As the cult expanded, they established hidden sanctuaries deep within caves, ancient ruins, and abandoned strongholds, where they could conduct their rituals away from prying eyes. Their ultimate goal was to weaken the fabric of reality enough to allow Azamul to fully manifest in the mortal world, an event that would spell doom for all who opposed them. The cult operates with a strict hierarchy, where only the most loyal and ruthless ascend to positions of power. From the neophytes who sacrifice loved ones to prove their loyalty, to the feared Arbiters who serve as Azamul’s conduits, each member is bound by blood and darkness to the cause.

Azamul's cult remains a constant and insidious threat, their tendrils reaching into every corner of the land, ready to strike when least expected. They are a force of corruption and despair, driven by the unholy desire to see their dark god rule over all.
