Human

History

NOTE: The Human history references specific years due to their shorter lifespans (when compared with other races)

Humans in Mercadia measure large spans of time in Eras. The Era before the year 7980 is commonly referred to as the Era of Legends. Mercadian history marks the end of the Era of Legend as the year 7980

The Era of Exodus (7980 - 9534)

  • The tribal leader, Merenthal, received a divine vision from Talathas, the Shepherd, who sought a hero to unite the fragmented human tribes. Heeding the call, Merenthal left the island of Kelt, known as the cradle of humanity, to embark on a grand quest. After a twenty-year journey, he succeeded in unifying the tribes and founded the Mercadian capital of Edana in 8000. His remarkable accomplishment marked the end of a fragmented existence and the beginning of a shared identity

Significant Events

  • 7980 Merenthal leaves Kelt
  • 8000 Tribes united and Edana is founded as the Capitol of Mercadia

The Era of Kingdoms (9534 - 11375)

  • Humanity's dominion expanded, and Merenthal's descendants strove to complete his vision of a unified Kingdom. However, with growth came new challenges. The Kingdoms encountered other races: Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs, and relationships varied from tense diplomacy to open conflict. This era is marked by battles, alliances, betrayals, and the constant quest for balance and stability.

The Era of Shattering (11375 - 13045)

  • A turbulent period characterized by internal strife and wars with other races. Divisions centered on the worship of the four pillars of human religion – Talathas, Kamalini, Kinurugi, and Adalia – led to devastating conflicts. The unity that once defined humanity was broken, leading to the fall of several outlying settlements.

The Lost Era (13045 - 14698)

  • A dark age fell upon humanity. Knowledge and advanced religious practices dwindled, as survival took precedence over all else. Only a few groups, dedicated to the preservation of knowledge, held on to the vestiges of civilization. Meanwhile, many who could flee to Kelt did, leaving Mercadia in the hands of disparate tribes.

==The Era of Reconciliation (14698 - 16323)

  • Marked a period of recovery and rebirth. Landmarks such as Fort Merenthal (now Fort Arinson) were constructed, symbolizing a return to unity and strength. Relations with the Elves and Dwarves were rekindled, signaling a shift towards diplomatic solutions over warfare. It also saw the end of the Elven Civil War and the destruction of Jyn-Pal, which ushered in a new era of harmony among the races.

Significant Events

  • Elven Civil War ends in 15999 with the destruction of Jyn-Pal

==The Era of Renewal (16323 - Present Day)

  • The ongoing Era of Renewal heralded a time of renaissance for humanity. Edana was restored as the capital, and the Church of Talathas, now a monument to the four primary deities, was rebuilt in its southwestern corner. Meanwhile, the a long raging civil war in Kelt triggered an influx of emigrants to Edana, further swelling its ranks, which continues event today.
  • However, this era has not been without its challenges. Between 16888 and 16889, the Kingdom underwent a series of tumultuous leadership changes, until finally, King Lando Narindun was crowned in late 16889. Under his rule, the Kingdom of Mercadia seeks to further the vision of unity and strength first seen in Merenthal's eyes thousands of years ago. The Kingdom looks towards a future of peace, prosperity, and coexistence with other races, ready to meet new challenges that may arise.

Significant Events

  • Igneos and the The Shadowclan march on Ameresh and Olverton in 16668. Olverton is annihilated, while Ameresh remains largely in ruins.
