Changes to taming
Taming is restricted to the following classes:
Changes:
Animal Lore
- Animal Lore is not used for anything on Regisfall. As of 2025/05/16 it has been effectively disabled. It is not required for Taming/Veterinary.
Using Animal Lore for Training
- Although the animal lore skill is mechanically disabled and does not raise, it will raise taming if you use it on creatures and makes training your skill easier. Our goal here was to make the skill less grindy so that a larger number of players wouldn't be pursuing a potentially small number of animals in the name of gaining skill or leaving players feeling like they need to expend perk points in order to raise their character's skills.
Other Items
- Unlike traditional UO, stable masters do not sell mounts. These have to be acquired from a player.
- Tamers cannot tame Dragons.
- Animal Taming requirement still exists, you should NOT trade more advanced pets (more than mounts/pack animals) with classes that do not have taming.
- Animal commands such as all follow me, all kill etc. are filtered and will not appear in game when typed/spoken."
- Issuing commands to tamed creatures/companions will also passively raise your animal taming.
- The list below is not exhaustive. Standard creatures such as wolves, dire wolves, birds, dogs, cats, bears, etc. are tamable for atmosphere or to help with your roleplay.

- Saddle Bags are limited to 1000 stones
- Pack Animals can carry 2600 stones
- Only ridable animals can support a saddle bag
- Saddlebags are a human only master craft item that requires a tinker
- Horse Barding Armor requires a blacksmith with the required craft plan.
- Your pets do NOT log off with you. They need to be stabled or hitched to a hitching post before you log off or they may go wild.
Bonding your pets:
- Creatures will not bond using the traditional stable command. The player needs to use the 'bond' command to bond a creature at a stable master. They can also be bonded by feeding the creature, which begins the bonding process. After a real week, they can bond with you when fed again, provided you have sufficient taming/lore to bond a creature. (mounts require none)
- Pets go into stable tickets that can be sold on vendors, or traded. Bond status, and things like saddle bags will transfer across a stable ticket.
- If your bonded pet dies, certain classes can assist you in reviving your pet. Alternatively you can pay a fee at a stablemaster.
