Veterinary

Veterinary is a support skill used to heal animals, beasts, and tamed creatures using bandages. It functions as the animal-based equivalent of Anatomy when paired with the Healing skill and is essential for those who rely on pets or animal companions in combat.

Overview

  • Used in conjunction with Animal Taming to apply bandages to animals.
  • Required to effectively heal creatures controlled via the Animal Taming skill.
  • Available to the Ranger and Druid classes.
  • Functions similarly to how Anatomy enhances Healing for humanoids.

Mechanics

  • Bandages must be applied manually to the targeted pet or creature.
  • Healing success, speed, and amount restored scale with Veterinary and Healing combined.
  • The higher your Veterinary skill, the more effective your bandage-based healing becomes.
  • Veterinary does not affect magical healing methods—only physical (bandage) healing.

Class Synergy

  • Rangers benefit from Veterinary through their animal-focused skillset. Especially the Beastmaster.
  • With the Caregiver mastery, Rangers gain enhanced effectiveness with bandage healing on pets.
  • Druids can use Veterinary to sustain summoned or tamed natural creatures, though they lack Caregiver-specific bonuses.

Training

  • Train Veterinary by applying bandages to injured animals or tamed pets.
  • Pets can be safely damaged in controlled environments to allow repeated practice.
  • Combining Healing and Veterinary training simultaneously is most efficient.

Notes

  • Required for high-level pet-based builds.
  • A vital skill for Beastmasters and other tamers who rely on their companions in battle.
  • Does not affect humanoid healing in any way.
