Elf

OOC NOTE:

To join an order your Elf will need to:

• Be at least level 10

• Apply to the guildstone in Arandor

• Participate in Roleplay/Events (Not necessarily in Arandor, but this is first and foremost a Roleplay Shard!)

• Become recognized as someone who will contribute to the group in terms of time/effort/material in some way. While we do not expect a full-time commitment from you, as everyone has a life off game, you should contribute in some way the same way that others are contributing.

• The Oath is administered at the Guild Stone in Arandor, by the Monarch, or someone they have appointed to administer the oath. Players can opt to invite others to participate, or it can be done privately.

• Moving to the highest rank in an Order would require you to be a well-established character, and is not entirely contingent on your character's level.

The Oath to Arandor

Each part of the oath serves a specific purpose, building layers of loyalty: to the kingdom, the monarch, the divine, the Order, and finally to the individual's role within the Order. This structure reflects the hierarchical and interconnected nature of Elven society, where each individual is part of a larger whole, guided by duty, tradition, and spiritual purpose. As a character ascends the ranks of their order, the oath is re-stated each time as they recommit to their past vows while accepting the responsibility of their new role.

Part One: Allegiance to the Kingdom

"Kingdom Before Kin, Kingdom Before Clan, Kingdom Before Comrades."

This phrase emphasizes the supreme importance of Arandor as a collective entity. To the Elves, the kingdom represents their heritage, their people, and their shared purpose. It is the embodiment of everything that sustains their way of life—the land, their traditions, their culture, and their spiritual alignment with the Valar. The phrase signifies that the well-being of the kingdom must take precedence over any personal or smaller group loyalties.

• Kingdom Before Kin: The Elves are expected to prioritize the safety and prosperity of the kingdom even over the bonds of family. While family is incredibly important in Elven culture, this part of the phrase underscores that the kingdom’s survival is paramount. Elves are taught that they may be called upon to sacrifice personal desires or even family members if it means protecting the greater good of Arandor. The needs of the kingdom supersede individual or familial needs.

• Kingdom Before Clan: Elves are often bound by their ties to a specific clan or social group, but this part of the phrase reminds them that clan loyalty must not surpass loyalty to Arandor itself. Even though clans may play a critical role in the social and political structure of the Elven society, the kingdom stands as the unifying force that transcends these divisions. Internal conflicts between clans must be set aside when it comes to the defense or prosperity of Arandor.

• Kingdom Before Comrades: In battle, Elves fight alongside trusted comrades, with whom they often share strong bonds of loyalty and friendship. This part of the phrase reinforces that even the close relationships forged on the battlefield must not take precedence over the kingdom’s greater purpose. The kingdom’s survival and honor outweigh personal allegiances, and an Elf must always put the kingdom’s needs first, even if it means difficult choices regarding those they hold dear.

Part Two: Allegiance to the Monarch

"In the name of Arandor, I pledge my loyalty to the Elven Monarch. By their wisdom, I am guided, and by their command, I shall abide. I pledge to serve their will with honor and uphold the unity and strength of my people. Though their mantle is heavy, our protection is their purpose, and I shall share in their burdens."

For the Elves, swearing loyalty to the Monarch signifies a commitment to the unity and stability of Arandor itself. The monarch is seen as the living embodiment of the kingdom's values, traditions, and purpose. Whether the monarch is a warrior, scholar, or healer, the Elves place their trust in their ruler to guide them wisely. This oath binds the Elf to the monarch's leadership, reflecting a deep-seated respect for the sovereign role, regardless of who holds it.

Elves view this loyalty as essential to maintaining harmony within their society. The monarch is the focal point of Elven governance, and the oath ensures that each Elf places the needs of the realm above any personal ambition, regional loyalty, or familial ties. To them, the monarch’s command is a guiding force that ensures the prosperity and protection of all Elvenkind.

The Monarch is not just a political leader; they are a spiritual and cultural figurehead. This oath means that the Elf recognizes the monarch’s role in balancing the need to preserve ancient traditions with the need to adapt to the present. The Elves see their monarch as the protector of their way of life, a custodian of Elven values passed down through the ages from the Valar. The monarch’s wisdom is trusted to guide the Elves in matters both mundane and profound, helping them navigate the complexities of their world while remaining faithful to their heritage.

By swearing this oath, the Elf acknowledges that the monarch’s vision is necessary to lead them toward a future that honors the past while embracing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Part Three: Allegiance to the Divines

"By the stars above and the earth below, I swear my life and spirit to the will of Fanyarnir, the Sky Father, and to the sacred Valar who guide us. With their light to illuminate my path and their wisdom to shape my actions, I shall honor the balance they maintain across the realms. I vow to protect the harmony of the world, to defend the natural order, and to serve the greater good of their world. By their divine grace, I pledge my heart, my mind, and my strength, so that in all things I may act in service to their eternal will."

To the Elves, this oath is a sacred covenant that defines their place in the universe. It is a declaration of their unquestioning loyalty to the Valar, and by extension, to the natural world and the greater good of their people and their realm. It is also a reminder of the interconnectedness of all things, as they believe their actions affect not just themselves but the balance of the entire cosmos. The oath is both a spiritual and moral guide, ensuring that they act with honor, wisdom, and humility. By committing to the will of Fanyarnir and the Valar, the Elves align themselves with the forces of creation, protection, and order, understanding that their existence is part of a greater cosmic harmony that they are duty-bound to protect.

Part Four: Allegiance To Their Order

There are nine possible oaths given by an Elf when they choose which order to join:

Order of the Celestial Sovereign (Fanyarnir)

"By the light of the stars and the wisdom of the skies, I pledge my soul to the Celestial Sovereign. Under the boundless heavens, I shall guide my kin, protect the balance, and honor the will of Fanyarnir. In all my actions, I will seek the harmony of the cosmos and the knowledge within its infinite depths. My path is written in the stars, and my heart is forever bound to the sky.

Order of the Verdant Heart (Aldarwen)

"By all the majesty in her domain, I swear my loyalty to the Verdant Heart. I shall protect the wilds, nurture the balance of life, and defend the sacred woods from harm. In Aldarwen's name, I will walk the path of nature’s keeper, listening to the voice of the trees, the rivers, and the creatures who dwell within. Let my life be a part of the eternal cycle, as I stand as a guardian of the living world."

Order of the Illuminated Mind (Ithoril)

By the light of knowledge and the power of wisdom, I vow to serve the Illuminated Mind. Guided by Ithoril's endless quest for truth, I will seek out the mysteries of the world and safeguard the wisdom of ages. I shall strive for enlightenment, honor the pursuit of learning, and preserve the lore of my people for future generations. With a mind open and a heart committed, I dedicate myself to the path of understanding.

Order of the Radiant Embrace (Caladria)

By the light that heals and the warmth that restores, I swear fealty to the Radiant Embrace. In Caladria's name, I will bring light where there is darkness, solace where there is pain, and healing where there is sorrow. My hands shall be instruments of her grace, and my heart shall be her beacon. Through her guiding light, I will mend what is broken and restore what has been lost, offering hope and comfort to all in need.

Order of the Valiant Shield (Dovaros)

By the strength of my arm and the fire in my heart, I pledge myself to the Valiant Shield. In Dovaros' name, I will stand firm against the darkness, defending the innocent and upholding justice. I shall fight with honor, protect with courage, and never falter in the face of evil. By force of arms, or the might of my magic, I will be the bulwark of my people, ever ready to defend those in need.

Order of the Mystic Veil (Seraphiel)

By the mists of dreams and the veil of prophecy, I swear allegiance to the Mystic Veil. Guided by Seraphiel’s wisdom, I will walk between the worlds of the seen and unseen, deciphering the visions granted by the Valar. In her name, I will navigate the depths of foresight and dreams, ensuring the balance of destiny and time. My path is shrouded in mystery, yet illuminated by the light of her guidance

Order of the Harmonious Muse (Solinor)

By the harmony of sound and the beauty of creation, I pledge my devotion to the Harmonious Muse. In Solinor's name, I will inspire the hearts of my people with music, art, and craft letting my creations be a reflection of the divine. Through song, story, and craft I will weave the threads of unity and joy, bringing light to the darkest corners of the world. May my works honor Solinor and enrich the lives of all who hear and see them.

Order of the Astral Enclave (Ophilia)

By the stars that guide and the magic that flows, I vow to serve the Astral Enclave. In Ophilia’s name, I will master the arcane arts and guard the mysteries of the cosmos. With discipline and wisdom, I will wield magic with reverence and restraint, ensuring that the balance of power remains unbroken. My soul is bound to the stars, and my purpose is to explore the infinite realms of possibility.

Order of the Eternal Sentinel (Verilion)

By the bounds of reality and in defense of truth, I swear my life to the Eternal Sentinel. In Verilion’s name, I will protect the boundaries between worlds, ensuring that the veil between the realms remains intact. I will be the watchman at the gate, the guardian of the unseen forces, and the defender of the fragile balance that holds existence together. My duty is eternal, my vigilance unwavering.

Part Five: Allegiance To Their Role

Order of the Celestial Sovereign (Fanyarnir)

"Under the endless expanse of the heavens and the vigilant stars above, I pledge to be the shield that guards the balance of the cosmos. I will stand unwavering against the tides of chaos, defending the sanctity of our sacred lands and the will of Fanyarnir. Starseer:

"By the constellations that chart the fate of the world, I vow to be the eye that interprets the movements of the heavens. I shall seek Fanyarnir’s guidance in the shifting patterns of the stars, using their light to reveal the mysteries of the cosmos. Through my vision, the Elven people shall find clarity and purpose, and I will ensure that our paths remain true to the balance Fanyarnir upholds."

Luminarch:

"In the name of Fanyarnir, I swear upon the celestial crown to lead with wisdom as vast as the skies, to protect with strength as enduring as the stars, and to uphold the cosmic order that binds us all. As a servant of the Celestial Sovereign, I accept the mantle of leadership, guiding our people with the light of the heavens, and standing firm against any force that threatens the delicate balance of the universe."

Order of the Verdant Heart (Aldarwen)

Forestwarden:

"By the ancient roots of the trees and the song of the wind through the leaves, I swear to be the vigilant protector of the wild. Under Aldarwen’s watchful gaze, I will safeguard the forests and defend all that thrives within them. I shall stand as a guardian against the forces of corruption, ensuring that the delicate balance of nature endures, and that all life within the forest continues to flourish in harmony with the world around it."

Lifebinder:

"With Aldarwen’s nurturing spirit coursing through my veins, I vow to heal the wounded, to tend to the earth, and to cultivate life wherever it is needed. As a Lifebinder, I am the hand that restores, the heart that nurtures, and the soul that protects. In the name of the Verdant Heart, I will ensure that the cycle of life remains unbroken, guiding all who seek renewal through the touch of the forest’s boundless grace."

Earthsinger:

"In the sacred voice of the earth and the whispers of the trees, I pledge to sing Aldarwen’s truth for all to hear. I will be the keeper of her wisdom, the guide who shows the way to live in harmony with nature. Through my songs and teachings, I shall nurture the spiritual growth of our people, reminding them that the strength of the forest lies not only in its roots but also in the hearts of those who protect it."

Order of the Illuminated Mind (Ithoril)

Seeker-Mage:

As a Seeker-Mage, I dedicate myself to the pursuit of wisdom, not for personal gain, but for the enlightenment of all who seek the truth."

Philosopher of the Mind:

"In the name of Ithoril, I swear to explore the deepest questions of existence, seeking wisdom in both the known and unknown. I shall be a beacon of intellect and thought, guiding others through the complexities of the mind and the world around us. With every debate, every treatise, and every moment of contemplation, I will strive to bring clarity and understanding, ensuring that our people are ever enlightened by the light of Ithoril’s teachings.

Order of the Radiant Embrace (Caladria)

Lightbringer:

"With Caladria’s radiant light as my guide, I vow to be the hand that heals and the heart that comforts. I shall use the warmth of her embrace to mend the wounds of both body and spirit, offering solace to those who are burdened by pain or sorrow. As a Lightbringer, I dedicate my life to the care of others, spreading Caladria’s light wherever there is darkness, and ensuring that all who seek healing find refuge in her grace."

Soulmender:

"In Caladria’s name, I pledge to heal not only the physical wounds of the body but also the deep, hidden scars of the soul. I will listen with empathy, offer counsel with compassion, and guide those lost in despair back to the light of hope. Through rituals of cleansing and renewal, I will help others find peace, knowing that Caladria’s embrace extends beyond the flesh to the very core of their being."

Luminary Warden:

"By the eternal light of Caladria, I swear to guard the sacred sanctuaries of healing and peace. I shall stand as a protector of those too vulnerable to defend themselves, using both magic and might to ensure that these places remain untouched by malice. As a Luminary Warden, I will uphold the sanctity of Caladria’s light, ensuring that her radiant embrace continues to shine upon all who seek comfort and restoration."

Order of the Valiant Shield (Dovaros)

Shieldbearer:

"With Dovaros as my guide, I pledge to be the unyielding shield that stands between the innocent and harm. I shall defend the weak, protect the vulnerable, and uphold justice with every strike of my blade and every step I take in battle. My strength shall be a beacon of hope to those who cannot protect themselves, and I will face any foe, no matter the odds, with the courage and valor that Dovaros imparts upon me."

Justicebringer:

"In the name of Dovaros, I swear to uphold the laws of our people, ensuring that justice is served with fairness and honor. I will be the hand that delivers justice to those who break the sacred trust of our land, standing as a beacon of righteousness in a world that often forgets its moral compass. With sword and shield, I will protect the innocent and punish the guilty, ensuring that justice prevails in every corner of Arandor."

Champion of Valor:

"By the strength of Dovaros, I pledge to lead with honor, inspire with courage, and protect with unwavering resolve. In times of peace, I will be a guardian of justice, and in times of war, I will lead my kin with the valor of a true Champion. I swear to uphold the principles of righteousness in every battle I fight, defending the realms from darkness and ensuring that the light of Dovaros’s honor never fades from our hearts."

Order of the Mystic Veil (Seraphiel)

Dreamweaver:

"Through the veil of Seraphiel, I vow to navigate the realms of dreams and visions, weaving the strands of fate into a tapestry of guidance for our people. I shall listen to the whispers of the ethereal realm, interpreting the signs that Seraphiel imparts upon me. As a Dreamweaver, I dedicate myself to guiding the Elven people through their deepest fears and highest hopes, ensuring that they remain on the path that destiny has set before them."

Veilwalker:

"By the unseen threads of fate, I pledge to walk between worlds, traversing the boundary between the physical and the ethereal with wisdom and care. I shall be the messenger of both realms, seeking knowledge in the dreamscapes and bringing it forth to those who need it. As a Veilwalker, I vow to protect the delicate balance between the known and the unknown, ensuring that the mysteries of the universe are revealed only when the time is right."

Oracle of Seraphiel (Elendir):

"In the name of Seraphiel, I pledge to be her voice in the world, speaking the truths that lie hidden beyond the veil. I shall interpret the visions bestowed upon me with clarity and purpose, guiding the Elves toward the future that fate has woven for them. As an Oracle of Seraphiel, I bear the weight of prophecy, knowing that with each revelation comes great responsibility, and I swear to use this power only for the good of our people."

Order of the Harmonious Muse (Solinor)

Melodist:

"With the harmony of Solinor’s song echoing through my soul, I vow to bring music to every corner of our land, inspiring joy and unity through each note I play. I shall craft melodies that lift the spirits of the downtrodden, heal the hearts of the weary, and remind all who hear them of the beauty that surrounds us. As a Melodist, I dedicate myself to spreading Solinor’s gift of music, ensuring that the Elven people always have a song in their hearts."

Artisan of the Muse:

"By the creative spark of Solinor, I pledge to craft beauty in all its forms, using my hands and my heart to create works of art that inspire and uplift. Whether through painting, sculpture, or craft, I will ensure that the spirit of creativity flourishes among our people, reminding them of the harmony that binds us all. As an Artisan of the Muse, I vow to honor Solinor’s gift by sharing my creations with the world, spreading joy and beauty wherever I go."

Poet-Sage:

"In Solinor’s name, I vow to weave words into stories, songs, and poems that capture the essence of our people’s soul. I shall preserve the history of our past, celebrate the beauty of our present, and inspire hope for our future through the power of language. As a Poet-Sage, I pledge to use my words to bring joy, wisdom, and unity to the Elves, ensuring that the spirit of Solinor’s creativity shines brightly in every tale I tell."

Order of the Astral Enclave (Ophilia)

Starweaver:

"By the arcane light of the stars, I pledge to weave the celestial magic that governs the cosmos, using my knowledge to unlock the mysteries of the universe. I shall explore the vastness of the astral plane, seeking the wisdom that lies beyond our world and bringing it forth to guide our people. As a Starweaver, I dedicate myself to mastering the arcane arts, ensuring that the Elven people remain connected to the stars that light our path."

Astral Keeper:

"In the name of Ophilia, I vow to protect the sacred knowledge of our ancestors, preserving the arcane wisdom and magical artifacts that shape our understanding of the cosmos. I shall be the guardian of the Enclave, ensuring that the secrets of the stars are kept safe and that those who seek them do so with reverence. Voidwalker:

Order of the Eternal Sentinel (Verilion)

Gatekeeper:

"By the shield of Verilion and the strength of my arm, I swear to stand guard over the boundaries that separate the worlds. I shall be the first and last defense against any force that seeks to breach the sacred veil that protects us. As a Gatekeeper, I pledge to remain vigilant in my duty, ensuring that no threat, whether seen or unseen, is allowed to pass through without challenge."

Warden of the Veil:

"With the wards of Verilion in my hands, I vow to maintain the barriers that hold our world intact, ensuring that the realms remain separate and balanced. I shall use my magic to fortify the veil, repairing any breach or weakness that may appear. As a Warden of the Veil, I pledge to protect the integrity of our world, ensuring that the balance between the physical and the ethereal remains undisturbed."

Sentinel of Verilion:

"In the name of Verilion, I swear to be the eternal guardian of the realms, standing as a sentinel against any force that threatens the balance of existence. I shall use both force of arms and magic to defend the boundaries of our world, ensuring that no malevolent power crosses over into our realm, or threatens the realms from within. As a Sentinel of Verilion, I accept the weight of this solemn duty, knowing that the fate of the realms rests in my unwavering vigilance."

The Rite of The Turning Leaf

The Rite of the Turning Leaf is the formal ceremony undertaken by an Elf who seeks to leave one Order and join another. The name symbolizes the natural cycle of change, just as leaves turn with the seasons but remain part of the same great tree.

• Petition for Release

The Elf must first present themselves before either the Luminarch of the Order of the Celestial Sovereign or the Magistrate of Arandor, who oversee all matters of faith and Order alignment. They formally state their intent to leave their current Order and name the one they wish to join.

• The Mark of Passage

The Luminarch or Magistrate offers a simple blessing, acknowledging the Elf’s service to their former Order and granting permission for their transition. A small, temporary sigil is drawn on the Elf’s palm, marking them as one in transition.

• Three Days of Reflection

The Elf must spend three days reflecting on their choice. This time allows them to reaffirm their conviction and prepares them to walk a new path.

• Swearing The Oath

On the dawn of the fourth day, the Elf presents themselves at the temple and retakes their Oath In the presence of their kin, reciting the Oath to Arandor and reflecting their new order. With the Rite of the Turning Leaf completed, the Elf is considered a full member of their new Order, their past honored, but their future firmly ahead.

The Silver Bough

The Silver Bough

The Silver Bough is a revered and ancient group in the Kingdom of Arandor, embodying unity, friendship, and the enduring bonds between the Elves and their allies. It represents a bridge between Arandor and other realms, signifying mutual respect, honor, and collaboration. The Silver Bough is more than just a title; it's a sacred acknowledgment of trust and kinship extended to individuals, including Dwarves, Humans, and even Orcs, who have shown exceptional loyalty to the Elven kingdom.

The Oath of the Silver Bough

I stand before the Elves of Arandor, with open heart and steadfast spirit, to pledge my loyalty and friendship. Though I am not of your kin nor sworn to an Order, I vow to honor the bonds between us, to respect the wisdom of your realm, and to uphold the peace and balance you cherish. I shall carry the grace of the Silver Bough with pride, a symbol of unity between our peoples. By my word, I will stand with Arandor, now and in the days to come, as a true Companion of the Silver Bough.
