Kerrigan's Studies

Post by Ithrintell » Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:42 am

Found the most fascinating specimen today! Blood moss - what a peculiar name for such a vibrant plant. Found it growing in a damp, humid area. The moisture must be perfect for it. Note to self: check other humid locations... wait, was I supposed to meet someone today? No, no, focus Kerrigan!

The moss itself is quite remarkable - deep crimson with tiny crystalline formations along the edges. When I ground it with my mortar and pestle, it released this sweet, almost metallic scent. Measured exactly 3 pinches of the powdered moss - precision is key! Added it slowly to a full beaker of distilled water heated until steam rose but before bubbling began.

The reaction was immediate! Violent bubbling for what I counted as 47 heartbeats, then complete stillness. The mixture turned the most brilliant blue I've ever seen - like looking into a summer sky reflected in still water. Added two drops of stabilizing oil and stirred counterclockwise with my silver rod 12 times. Why counterclockwise? Must research that later.

Decided to test it properly this time - drank a small vial of the blue mixture. Sweet taste with a slight tingle on the tongue! Within moments, everything felt... faster. My hands moved like lightning, my reflexes sharp as a blade. Lasted exactly 120 heartbeats before the effect faded.

Only 2 minutes though... need to research stronger concentrations. Perhaps more blood moss? Different preparation methods? Must investigate!

Reminder: buy more glass vials - broke three today

he writes further

Found this treatise in the Edanaian crypts today. Should probably burn it, but... the author makes compelling arguments. Every skeleton mentioned here was someone's child once, someone's beloved daughter or son. If their remains could help save the living, wouldn't that honor their memory?

I became an alchemist to save lives, to heal people. If understanding these forbidden arts could help me create better antidotes, better healing potions... isn't that my duty? The "Vampiric Embrace" spell - it converts damage into healing! Imagine if I could replicate that alchemically. No more watching people die from wounds I can't heal fast enough.

The toxin formulations described here... if I understand exactly how magical poisons work, I could create universal antidotes. Think of all the poisoning victims I could save! And the knowledge of lich transformation - I could identify early signs, intervene before good mages fall to corruption.

But I can't tell anyone about this research. They'd see necromancy and not the healing potential. What if I discover something that could save hundreds but can't share it because of how I learned it? The burden of helping people in secret...

Wait, was that a noise upstairs? No, just the wind. Must be more careful where I study this.

Note: Hide these papers better. Maybe develop a cipher?
