Blue lights and Pyromancers

Arkais read over the book once more left by Brother Theobold, The lantern light swaying it's rays back and forth on the page as a gentle breeze caressed the docks. Thick smoke rolled gently from his mouth as he chewed the end of a lit pipe, contemplating what this words meant for Edana. The heart of the deep, he had never heard of this ancient thing. This thing with the power to plunge islands into darkness.

"I have never heard of ancient crystals until that cult discovered them either." He would muse to himself shutting the book and stuffing it into an interior pocket of his jacket.

His thoughts would then drift to the old man in the tower. The warnings he spoke, the power he held over fire. It was always something that piqued Arkias's curiosity. Why there were pyromancers within the Consortium. Perhaps fire was key to defeating this heart of the deep. Perhaps it was a matter of preference from Arinson. What other secrets do the Consortium hide. He shook his head letting the thoughts fade.

It was late, the stars were shining in all their beauty on the clear night. Their reflections bouncing and dipping with the waves of the ocean, making them dance on the sea. He looked up from the stars graceful dance over the ocean and let his gaze drift far to the horizon, again seeing the blue lights far off in the distance, fade in and out of existence. He would let out a soft sigh to this new threat, by Brother Theobolds accounts. He did not know if this threat would spill from this mystical island that has been shrouded from the world to the city but he was determined to not allow that to happen.

"For your protection..." He would mutter the words of the old man and shake his head softly. Replaying the Conversation once more over in his mind before looking from the lights and back to the stars.

He knows what he must do for the protection of the city he has come to love so dearly. One he will not allow any to threaten. He would double his efforts to the city, inviting more within the Kingdom of Mercadia, Citizens, Military, navy. He will need them all to bolster the city in defense and moral.

Arkais would stay on the dock until the once vibrant stars dwindled to the soft blues and oranges of the morning, his mind working like a machine, turning and processing everything that would be needed to lead the city to victory against this new foe.He would finally stand, stretching his stiff muscles as the first light of dawn began to paint the sky. With renewed determination, he made his way back to the city, his mind filled with plans and strategies. He knew it would be a long day of preparation. Upon reaching the city gates, he was greeted by the familiar faces of the guards and citizens who had come to respect and admire him, strengthening his resolve.
