Last Will and Testament

Matilda sat in her new house, finally fully moved in, and smiled. The kitchen was warm despite the snow outside, the oven radiating heat into the space where she sat in her new chairs, Whisper across the one next to her and using her lap as a pillow.

“This place worked out perfectly, Whisper.. I really do need to find a way to properly thank Shael for the tip… and the loan.” pausing to narrow her eyes “Even if that trixy Elf is even -more- devious than Lance and all his sneaky rooms and bed combined. I mean, I probably should have known better. She’s been living a lot longer so she is probably better with tricky wording but.. Damned it Whisper. We shook on it! I said I would take it as a -loan- and that I would pay it back… then she could do whatever she wanted with the money after that, like donate it if she didn’t want it. We shook! She’s not supposed to be able to donate it… to my house!” punctuating each of those last three words with frustration and shaking her head. “How am I supposed to pay her back if she’s just not going to accept it! At least with Lance when I finally find those things I’ll be able to sneak them into Shield and leave them there. I don’t even know where Shael lives!”

There’s a huff and a sigh as she stroke’s the apathetic feline’s fur, shaking her head slowly in thought. And then, like a bolt from Shael herself, it hits her… a horribly wonderful idea that put a mischievous grin across the woman's face and a twinkle in her eye. If the Elf could use her lifespan to her advantage, Matilda would use her own unique human lifespance to her own advantage. Giving Whisper a little nudge.. “C’mon Whisper.. We’re going to town!”

It is certain that the duo at Edana bank did not know what they were in for this morning when they woke. Certainly they weren’t expecting the familiar red-headed woman with not one now, but two shadow maulers to come practically skipping in only moments later asking to sit down with them and write out… well this!
Last Will and Testament

I, Matilda Dawnvale, being of sound and competent mind, do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament. I further declare that this Last Will & Testament reflects my own wishes without any undue influence.

After payment of all personal debts, expenses and liabilities, I request and direct that my property be bequeathed as follows:

I bequeath the house, “Song of the Wild”, to the Elf, Shael of the Order of the Illuminated Mind.

I bequeath my horse, Artax, to Ria Leifchild to be cared for or passed on to someone else who will properly care for him.

All other residual property I have ownership in at the time of my death is to be donated to The Shield of Dawn to be used in the continued aid of those in need.

Witnessed by Caesar Jr and Hackett of Edana bank.
Matilda looked over the document once before grinning in approval, much to the continued confusion of the bankers who had never seen anyone so pleased in this situation. As she left the bank she murmured offhandedly… “Checkmate Shael… it may take my whole life but I did say I’d pay you back! C’mon Whisper, Shadow… let’s go work on Lance’s repayment next.”

And once again practically skipping as she hummed her way down the street, Matilda headed for the west gate, pulling on a familiar coif and looking quite pleased with herself.
