Return: Skills

Tracking is used to locate and follow nearby mobiles. Once a target has been successfully located, the tracker is provided with a directional arrow pointing toward their quarry.

Skill Delay: 3 Seconds

Usage

When Tracking is invoked, the player may choose to search for Animals, Monsters, Human NPCs, or Players. Nearby valid targets are displayed based on the user's Tracking skill, with the closest targets listed first.

Selecting a target begins tracking them and displays a directional arrow indicating their location.

Tracking Range

  • Tracking range increases with the user's Tracking skill - characters with greater Tracking skill are therefore able to locate potential targets from considerably farther away.
  • Once a target has been selected, they may continue to be followed at an increased distance. Moving too far away from the target, changing maps, or otherwise losing the quarry will end Tracking.

Tracking Accuracy

  • The directional arrow periodically updates to reflect the quarry's current location. Higher Tracking skill causes this arrow to update more frequently, providing more accurate information about a moving target.
  • Mounted players, or Druids who are shapeshifted into the Runner form group are less effective in tracking their target and an extra 2.5 seconds are added to their update frequency.
  • When tracking a hidden player, their Stealth skill can interfere with these updates. A player with sufficiently high Stealth has a chance to prevent an individual Tracking update, causing the arrow to temporarily continue pointing toward their last known location - higher Tracking skill reduces the effectiveness of this resistance.

Tracking Interval

The Tracking arrow updates at a given interval based on a number of factors, but primarily Tracking skill. The interval begins at 5 seconds with 0 skill and caps at 140 potential max skill as follows:

  • 5.0 sec at 0 Tracking
  • 4.2 sec at 50 Tracking
  • 3.3 sec at 100 Tracking
  • 2.7 sec at 140 Tracking
  • Advanced Tracking reduces Tracking interval by 0.5 sec
  • Being mounted or shapeshifted in Runner form increases the Tracking interval by 2.5 sec

Advanced Tracking

Characters with Advanced Tracking receive several additional benefits:

  • Tracking range is significantly increased.
  • The directional arrow updates more frequently.
  • Clicking the Tracking arrow provides additional information about the quarry's current Hits, Stamina, and Mana, with the amount of information provided increasing with character level.
