Elves

Elven Terms for Growth and Mastery

When speaking in-character, Elves describe their personal advancement through spiritual and physical harmony rather than numbers or points. The terms below let players refer to common game systems in ways that make sense within Elven culture.

Out-of-Character Term In-Character Reference
Experience Potentiality
Level Attunement
Skill Discipline
Mana Lirae (as in Lyrandel)
Battle Aura Non-Magical Feats/Usage of Mana
Techniques Special Moves (Armor Ignore etc.)

Places in Arandor

Some of the places in Arandor predate the city itself, and are still referred to by their 'old names'. Others use more common names brought on by the latest generation of Arandor's defenders who have had far more exposure to the outside world.

Out-of-Character Term In-Character Reference
The Temple Vael'Tir
The Meeting Hall Vael'Reth
The Craft Hall Vael'carath
The Vault The Deepstore
Hearthsong Hall Hearthsong Hall
The Weeping Stones The Weeping Stones

Quick Notes

  • The Lyrandel is the organ that gathers and refines Lirae (the Elven word for mana or life-essence).
  • As an Elf’s attunement increases, their Lyrandel resonates more strongly producing visible or emotional signs of growth.
  • Using these terms in roleplay helps describe progress without breaking immersion.

Geographical Context

While Elves refer to their homeland as Arandor, it lies upon the greater landmass known as Vaelora.

Vaelora encompasses all major realms: Arandor, Mercadia, Karagard, and Burz’kal, and the unincorporated settlements.

Region or Realm Description Notes (OOC)
Vaelora The collective name for the known world. Derived from ancient Elven roots meaning “World of Harmony.” What the Elves call the main overworld map.
Arandor Homeland of the Elves; forested sanctuaries bound by song, tradition, and divine grace. The heart of Elven civilization and seat of the Valar’s influence.
Mercadia Human kingdom to the northwest, founded under King Merenthal Known for its chartered laws and mercantile cities.
Karagard Mountain realm of the Dwarves; rich in ore and industry. Carved halls, stoneworks, and fortress keeps beneath the peaks.
Burz’kal Harsh lands of the Orc clans, forged through trial and conflict. A culture of endurance and honor amid the jungles, volcanic mountains, and marshes.

Quick Notes

  • For context if the Elves were to refer to Tilverton, they might say that Tilverton is a village in the central western region of Vaelora.
