The Shield of Dawn will soon be seeking new members. Members of the Divine Order will be granted automatic membership into the Shield.

Overview
The Shield of Dawn is an esteemed and diverse guild dedicated to safeguarding the realm from the myriad evils that threaten its peace and stability. Founded on principles of unity and valor, the guild welcomes members from all races, including Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and even Orcs, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect. This unique coalition operates independently of any single religion or creed, drawing strength from their shared commitment to justice and the protection of the innocent.

Mission
The primary mission of the guild is to confront and neutralize threats that emerge from the shadows, whether they be evil cults, malevolent creatures, or insidious plots. The guild operates both openly and covertly, sending its members on perilous quests to thwart evil forces before they can wreak havoc upon the realm and moving to respond and aid with threats that come forward. They view no corner of the world as beyond help.

Code of Conduct
The guild adheres to a strict code of conduct that emphasizes justice, honor, and the protection of the innocent. Members are expected to act with integrity, respect their comrades, and put the welfare of the realm above personal gain.

Insignia and Motto
Motto: Lux in Tenebris
Longer form: Lux in tenebris lucet, et tenebrae eam non comprehenderunt.
Translation: Light shines in darkness; and the darkness does not comprehended it

The guild's emblem, a rising sun coming from a dark night, symbolizes their role as bringing light into darkness and their belief in hope for the future.

Advancement and Training
Any person who joins the guild is expected to pick a path of their own and work with those who are of higher rank within the order to establish goals. At least three goals, including at least one based on roleplay, will be given to advance in a rank. If a member has been the same rank for four months and has been active but not been able to meet goals, they may request advancement by having demonstrated their activity otherwise. Members who do not wish to advance their own path may choose to remain simply as "Member".

Paths:
  • Page / Squire / Knight -- Combatants of the guild, and the hardest path. Must demonstrate virtuous behavior, excellent combat ability (though combat style is open), and be known in the world.
  • Initiate / Acolyte / Priest -- Caregivers who tend to the spiritual needs and traditions of all members.
  • Researcher / Scholar / Professor -- Academics focused on learning about the world to aid the guild's cause.
  • Healer / Medic / Physician -- Healers of the guild who tend wounds using physical, chemical, or magical methods.
  • Member / Associate / Fellow -- General membership for any who seek to help.
Final titles on any path, and all titles on the general path may be customized. Examples: Page / Squire / Templar for knights. Dishwasher / Line cook / Chef for general members.

Leadership
Those who are further along on their path have oversight of those who are newer to the guild or less advanced in their path. In field operations and day to day work, members are expected to respect those who have completed further training and earned higher rank. This does not mean they cannot disagree, but final say is to the higher rank. Any who have earned their last rank on their path may be selected as a guild officer if needed to help in guild functioning. Approval of a new guild officer requires a vote of current active officers. Administrative guild leadership (guild master on the stone) is determined by majority vote of all members from any path. Major decisions made by leadership, such as removal of a member or hostilities with a recognized nation or faction, require approval by a majority of active officers. (officers will be notified in discord and given a chance to respond).

Guild leader: Lance
Officers: Ama, Eradin, Gorhiem, Lance, Malik, Rey, VelCrow

Holdings
The guild desires to Westgate Keep as its primary base, but may maintain buildings within cities to encourage friendship and community. The location of Westgate Keep allows fast response time to Edana, Arandor, Karagard, and Ameresh. Individual members may live in any city they desire or may work with the guild to build their own house near the keep. The keep's only full time occupants are its Stewards. The Steward is selected by the guild leader as someone able to manage the building and its affairs. Multiple stewards may be appointed.

Steward: VelCrow
Assistant Steward: Rey

Guild Resources
All players are expected to contribute to the storage and supplies of the guild as they are able. A quartermaster oversees and maintains routine inventory of the guilds supplies. Players may only give out guild resources to characters outside of the guild if they are able to repay items or gold of equal cost and doing so must be cleared with the guild before doing so. Failure to comply will result in losing access to guild resources or expulsion from guild.

Quartermaster: Rey

Equipment and Supply
Individual members will be equipped by the guild in "starter" gear of exceptional quality made from high quality materials. Further equipment must be earned by demonstrated activity and dedication to the group to be evaluated by the Steward, Quartermaster, and one other officer. In addition players are expected to take one gathering skill to its cap (100 or 105 for certain races/skills). Exceptions may be made for characters who have demonstrated considerable contribution through other means. Alternatively, with approval of the quartermaster, a guild member may pay resources or gold to have a guild crafter make desired equipment.

Alternate characters of guild members that join the guild may be approved for equipment sooner by agreement of three guild officers if the player has already demonstrated contribution.

Guild members may use basic resources such as iron, sulfurous ash, and oak to train their crafts.

OOC Expectations:
The goal of the guild is to encourage RP with each other and engage with the NPC threats in the world. This may often mean group hunts and dungeon runs, but the primary focus will be on character growth.

OOC Leadership:
The founding members of the guild are given special consideration in keeping the guild functional to the needs of the game world. They may change other rules and parts of the guild to adapt to unexpected changes or concerns. This authority is independent of their character's rank or role (so long as they maintain a character in the guild). Guild founders: Kayro, Monatachi, Turkish, VelCrow, Anlei, Kiramay
