Guild Full Name

The Freeport of Tilverton & Trading Union

Overview

The Freeport of Tilverton is, as the name suggests, a free city not affiliated to any crown. It is an anarchist resort; a city truly managed by its people and their representants. It was once controlled by the Consortium Brotherhood, but has since been freed off their dominion through an allied effort led by the Wyrd Cabal.

The Mayor of Tilverton is Helena, The Reclaimer. A tilvan who infiltrated the Consortium for many years, whose assistance was key in the reclamation. The Overseer of Tilverton is Zomactelonyvarix, The Harbinger of the Wyrd Cabal.

The Wyrd Cabal

The Wyrd Cabal was a group of mystics dedicated to the collection and cataloging of ancient artifacts, the accumulation of power for self-growth and the pursuit of life eternal. Moreover, the cabal was centered around the enigmatic deity known as The Stranger, the patron of the guild.

Origins

The Wyrd Cabal is said to be as old as humanity. According to its own records, just as tribal leader Merinthal received a divine message from Talathas to unite the tribes of the early men, another human received a similar vision from The Stranger, imparting onto him the secrets of the arcane and the truths of the cosmos. This primeval man, known only as Prophet Wyrd, founded the Cabal in secret with other illuminated and brought its designs to the Mainland in the ships of the first men. The group operated in secrecy for many centuries until recently, when a sudden change in direction led the guild to act more openly.

History

Zomactelonyvarix brought a new sect of the Wyrd Cabal from Kelt to the Mainland. After a turbulent period following their arrival, the Cabal went silent, distancing itself from the world on the island of Ka'mella. On the sands of Ka'mella, the group amassed resources and quietly grew in power, preparing for a great project to come.

Eventually, the group moved to the tilvan region, in the Southlands, where it built Fort Risencrantz and rallied forces to fight against the Consortium Brotherhood. On February 22nd of 16.894, Tilverton was reclaimed by an effort led by the Wyrd Cabal and emancipated as The Freeport of Tilverton.

Religion

The Stranger and the creed of Prophet Wyrd form the official religion of Tilverton.

The Stranger is an eldritch entity, mostly unknown to all. It exists outside of the planes and beyond the reach of the gods, but also inhabits the deepest and darkest corners of the humanoid mind. Its origin is lost to time immemorial. The Stranger is so alien and unfathomable that a mere glimpse of Its majestic and dreadful aspect could drive a mortal insane. In fact, those mentally unhinged seem more prone to receive Its visions and revelations. The Stranger visits Its followers in dreams or in hallucinations, and only communicates in riddles. It is said those touched by The Stranger are forever transformed and gifted their true name.

The Stranger is also known as: The All-Seeing Eye, The Guardian of Secrets, The Keeper of Prophecy, The King That Waits, The Lord of The Dark Star and The Whispered One. And Its domains are: Arcane Magic, Secrets, Knowledge and Madness.

The Four Ministries

Currently, there are four ministries in the governing party of the Freeport of Tilverton: The Temple of The Stranger, The Dragonrider Militia, The Esoteric Lyceum and The Phantom Stalkers. These are RP opportunities within the guild, but the group isn't limited to these.

The Temple of The Stranger

Image

The Temple is the religious ministry of Tilverton. They manage and maintain the faith in The Stranger, by performing rites, sermons and spreading the word. As the diviners of the guild, they also interpret the messages from The Stranger in signs, visions and dreams, which has weight in the guild's decision-making.

The Dragonrider Militia

Image

The Militia is the military ministry of Tilverton. They are the army of Fort Risencrantz, the guardsmen of Tilverton and the wardens of the Southlands. They can be recognized from leagues away due to their trademark draconic mounts.

The Esoteric Lyceum

Image

The Lyceum is the arcane ministry of Tilverton. They're wizards and scholars who delve into the mysteries of the cosmos, magical or alchemical. They also locate and hunt down rogue necromancers - malpractitioners of the deathly arts, who often seek lichdom.

The Phantom Stalkers

The mysterious Phantom is the intelligence ministry of Tilverton. They're rogues and spies who are never seen, always disguised or hidden in the shadows. They collect information on our enemies and scout the frontiers.
