The Whereabouts of Mr. Ritz

The group filed into the church quietly. Ria Leifchild carried the wrapped body in as Malik Alhder held the door open for her. Divine Order members settled onto the benches in silence. They were somber and looked worn out, having fought their way through the cult's fortress only to be met with the horrific sight they feared the most. The search had ended in failure.

"Vincent Ritz.. a man of mystery," Malik stood at the front of the room, addressing the group. "A good man to all that called him a friend. Always one to honor his word, and give his full efforts in his endeavors. We remember you fondly our dear friend." He motioned with his hand in a circular pattern with some trailing magic. "Pray that your eternal rest be granted."

Amaryllis Hyluen could still see the corpse vividly in her mind. The expectant gazes on her to fix the situation - or so she felt, anyway. VelCrow Durgil was in disbelief, asking for confirmation and perhaps trying to find any sign that it wasn't truly him. Reynald De Leon seemed to be in shock, his responses more odd than normal. The Elf called Eon returned from scouting ahead - he had joined the search party after Amaryllis had written a letter to him looking for answers. Eon inquired about a resurrection. Amaryllis looked back to the group - the sinking feeling settling in of reaching out to find the spirit and feeling nothing nearby. Ria confirmed this. Who knew how late they were.. how long he had been gone.

Rey had turned to take his anger out on a cultist that had entered the room behind them. He stood against the wall, sobbing. Amaryllis moved to comfort him, but noticed Eon similarly distressed on the other side of the room - out of sight from the group. She watched the lone Elf with pity, but did not know how to approach. In the other room, Lothian mentioned breaking the news to the Harmony sisters upon their return.

Eon stood and approached part of the group that had split away from Vincent's remains. He still seemed distressed, but asked if they had already taken him. Lothian informed him they were still prepping the body. The Elf shared pained words of disbelief at the situation.

Malik slowly entered the room. "We are ready."

The floor had been turned over to those who wished to speak as Malik stepped aside. To vent their grief or search for a glimpse of joy in this grim moment. VelCrow stood first, struggling to hold back his tears as he recounted the times his friend had looked out for him - always there in his hour of need. Rey admitted to not knowing the tailor very long, but shared about some lifesaving advice he had been given.. if only the favor could have been returned. Ria spoke of his generosity, a helpful nature she had come to admire.

"Let us head out, and let our friend rest," Malik spoke up after checking to see that no one else wished to speak. "I understand if anyone wishes to remain for a while."

One by one the group dispersed. The quiet mumblings faded as only Amaryllis remained seated; Eradin Renok stood silently in the aisle waiting for her. She let out a long, quiet sigh and stared at the large ankh against the wall for a while longer. There were many thoughts running through her mind, but none she had wished to share. Her thoughts drifted to Eon, who had parted ways from their group to continue on in the fortress. He stated he would pay his respects later, but the night called for vengeance. She had worried his grief would make him careless, but another Elf - Alre Carmys - had arrived. Surely he would keep an eye on him. Slowly Amaryllis stood up and made her way out with Eradin. The church would watch over Vincent's body and make the necessary preparations.
