A letter arrives to the gates of Burz'kal, addressed to its most prominent citizenry.
(Sorry guys, this was way too long for a Discord post!)9th Duskrun, 16992
To the Leadership of the Clan Burz'kal,
In the interest of seeking a stable resolution for the extraction sites south of Ameresh, in particular those of contention between the Assembly and the orcish peoples, the Kingdom of Mercadia writes seeking mediation through sanctioned war games.
Where it concerns the sites under de jure holding of the Kingdom of Mercadia, the Clans of Burz'kal, and the Hunters Assembly, the proposed terms of combat stand as such:The result of this fair play is as such: those who win, keep control of the site, with forfeiture of rights to claims upon lapse of holding. Escalations are not to follow, on either side, upon claiming of an unoccupied site.
- That hostilities cease upon both sides, towards people and property alike, upon the acceptance of these terms.
- That each party - Burz'kal and the allied forces of the Kingdom of Mercadia and the Assembly - put forth a team of four champions. In total, eight warriors representing both sides of this conflict. The choice may be made internally as to whomever is to represent either side, per game.
- That these champions then engage in a team skirmish at sanctioned locations for the holding of a specific resource location.
- That these battles be non-lethal.
- And that, furthermore, observers on both sides are forbidden from assisting the champions in battle.
The Kingdom of Mercadia seeks non-lethal means to end this conflict, and with control over these sites be settled by sanctioned trial rather than further abstract claims. Given the martial culture shared by our yet different peoples, with the orcs in particular known for their prowess in battle, it would seem a choice and decisive solution to end the current bouts of violence, away from semantics and talk.
Refusal of these terms, however, cannot go unanswered. Being that Mercadian civilians have been subject to ambush while traveling the wilds south of Ameresh - away from conflict over the sites themselves - the Kingdom cannot hold to an indefinite defensive posture. Should these terms be refused, the Council will be compelled to reconsider the limits it has thus far placed upon its own response. Until these recent developments, the Kingdom has offered assistance only in defense of worksites under claim by the Assembly. As we understand the Assembly has bound its aggression to the contested sites alone, moving beyond this limit represents an escalation that demands appropriate response.
Specific discussions regarding the Ameresh Mines are still open to their initial offer, and thus exemption from this proposal. Those discussions may, however, be canceled and the site commuted to contest under the outline above.
As before, invitations stand to meet on neutral, non-combative terms to speak on these and other issues.
