The sun stood tall in the sky like a burning sentry watching the large crowd that had gathered on the sandstone-paved streets of Ka’Mella. The denizens collected not to praise the Sun nor to break for tea and tobacco. No, something out of the daily hustle and bustle of the Oasis was coming to pass. The sun-bleached sandstone before the crowd glittered with fresh wet blood. A few loose teeth scattered like the rolling of dice from the man being carried before the energized audience. This only enticed the people of the oasis into a fury of cheers and calls. All the people…save one.
Ishida stood close enough to see the fuss but was far enough away to be spared from the elbows and spit of the crowd. She pulled her sandworn cloak tighter around her form and peered through her veil to get a good look at the man being carried. To get a good look at her possible quarry. She stood in a shield of stoic silence, watching as the disgraced corsair was being carried like a freshly born foal to be slaughtered. She took a minute to praise the light of the Sun and Moon for this truth, the truth that this man needed to be judged. She needed not to watch the conclusion of the event that gripped the center of the oasis. If the Desert deemed her to judge this man, he would live, and she would find him.
